THE CHARACTERS

Scott Blume

Without doubt the most illustrious and charismatic member of the Magnificent Seven. Sharp and remarkably talented, it's as if he was born a man in full. He bleeds insouciant charm like maple trees bleed syrup.

Jonathan (Jack) Kane

Hard-worker. Has earned everything he has and man, does he have a lot: he's the young hotshot in Tort law at Skaaden Arp, he's married to Johannah, they have two beautiful kids - JJ and Ashley - and they live in that Upper West Side townhouse that we'd kill to live in. It's the perfect Manhattan existence.

James Kheills

Scott's freshman year roommate. Always lacked motivation and direction until Scott appointed him the manager of Blume's, new restaurant in San Francisco. Of the Magnificent Seven, he's always been the rock and that is what's really at James's core: he's loyal to a fault.

William Harrison

Jack's roommate freshman year, Will is the wiseass of the group. Never was a hit with the ladies until later in life, maybe that's where developed all that personality. A talented writer, his first manuscript Vagabond, a riff on Joyce's Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man, was about Scott, but it never got published. Will subsequently abandoned "true literature" and took to greener pastures writing boilerplate best sellers.

Flynt Fordy

Flynt is a young, wily salesman, and man, does life looks good: just graduated from college, just married Sarah Jennings (his high school sweetheart), just moved into a small loft next door to Scott, and a good job at a mid-town ad agency with great advancement potential. He's madly in love in Sarah.

Ellen Hurley

Ellen is trouble and that's why she's so attractive. She's smart and attractive but she has so much baggage, she might as well own Tumi. From the beginning, there was no question that she and Scott would become a couple. They were never boring.

Johannah Canby-Kane

Johannah and Jack became a couple the moment they laid eyes on each other. She worked hard to mold Jack into the man he has become and because of that, she's very protective of their "perfect" life. Spends her days working at a publishing house.

Raleigh Burke

Raleigh cut her teeth as an actress in New York. Now in Los Angeles, she's become a movie star. Big. Like Julia Roberts. Through Raleigh's success, she's always been solid in her relationship to the Magnificent Seven, but unbeknownst to anyone, she and Ellen have always been the closest.

Madison Blake

On the exterior, she's punk rock. On the inside, she's Chicago ("If you leave me now, you'll take away the biggest part of me, ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo, baby, please don't go") soft rock. Naive, but truly good-hearted. Not a member of the Magnificent Seven, Madison started going out with Scott shortly after he and Ellen broke up for good.

Sarah Jennings Fordy

Mid-western, yearning for big-city, this daughter of a high-profile cheese maker, finally has her wish. She recently married Flynt, her high school sweetheart, and with a lot of help from her parents, they have moved into a small Manhattan loft next to Scott. With a promising job at the same ad agency that Flynt works at, life couldn't be better.
